On Friday, September 24th, 2010, a fundraiser will be held at and hosted by the Julia De Burgos Cultural Center, where the public will be able to enjoy themselves with live music, food, drink and a DJ spinning a variety of musical styles, in order to benefit El Barrio Boxing Association. A non-profit organization originally based in Binghamton, NY, and is now in the process of relocating to the cultural melting pot that is “Spanish Harlem” in New York City.
On hand will be live music from, not one, but TWO Salsa bands. One led by the beautiful CITA RODRIGUEZ, who is the daughter of the legendary vocalist Pete “El Conde” Rodriguez. The other being Salsa fan favorites who began in the 60s & 70s and have re-emerged in the new millennium and are being embraced by a whole new generation of dancers around the globe, Grammy nominees and ‘Fania’ recording artists, THE NEW SWING SEXTET.
There will be food and drink available with catering provided by LA FONDA BORICUA restaurant. DJ music provided by the swinging DJ CASPER.
The event will be held Friday, September 24th, 2010 @ the Julia De Burgos Cultural Center located at 1680 Lexington Ave. (E. 106th St.), New York, NY, 10029. Doors open from 5pm to Midnight.
We ask that everyone who attends to please contribute a minimum $20 donation at the door. So, come out and enjoy a great night of excellent music, fun-filled dancing and great food, while contributing to a good cause.
The mission of El Barrio Boxing Association is to provide a safe and supportive environment for local “at risk” youth as an alternative to drug abuse and violence through athletics, mentoring, educational programs, and community service.
