  1. K smit says:

    Day of our visibility
Puerto Rican Heritage Month notwithstanding, for the rest of the year, in this country, we are invisible.

  2. Quadia says:

    because it celebrates latin culture

  3. Andrew says:

puerto rican day parade is not about puerto rican pride, its about skanky looking 15 year old puerto rican girls, latin kings, and street thugs trying to pick up these skanky puerto rican girls. The parade itself celebrates hip-hop music, and being puerto rican in NYC. Puerto Ricans from actual Puerto Rico have nothing to do with this parade and are not only ashamed of the parade, but the low-class thugs/skanks attending.

  4. Mr Motha fuckin Cruz says:

WHAT? Whoever Andrew is, you need to get a life. You obviously have NO idea what the Parade is about. YES there are a few floats promoting hip hop music. But you forget, most of the people on those floats ARE PUERTO RICAN, and represent, on their RADIO station float, BEING puerto rican. New York City, is a melting pot city, surrounded by urban influences. YOU CAN NEVER ESCAPE VIOLENCE, THUGS, or “SKANKY” women for that matter. IN ANY PARADE this applies. Do you know how much arrests and fights are reported after the St. Patricks Day Parade? Probably DOUBLE the amount of the Pr Parade. Yes, DOUBLE. So dont even try to pull the stereotypes out. Watch, or matter fact, go to the parade and youll see what its about, the beautiful floats, salsa dancing, the food, the stars that ARE puerto rican and love and represent the culture proudly (Marc Anthony, Tito Puente Jr., Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Linda Lopez, Elvis Crespo, Daddy Yankee and any other reggaeton star FROM THE ISLAND itself, and those are just to name a few successful individuals). So no, you are wrong, IGNORANT, perhaps a racist prick, and wouldnt know JACK SHIT about the Parade even if it crossed right in front of your house. So keep reading your newspapers looking for gossip columns and fight and arrests reports to come up with the truth about the PR parade.

  5. Mando says:

PR is the most beautiful island, and im am proud to be puerto rican… i hope one day i will attend that parade in NY because i currently live in LA.

  6. PR dude says:

That dude Andrew is either gay or just mad that he can’t get a beautiful Puerto Rican girl. Sounds like an old gay white guy.

  7. Josue Malpica says:

Thank you Mr. Crus…you couldnt have said it better…peace to the world and god forgive andrew, he needs to awaken from such a horrible state of mind. puerto rico is where my parents are from, who i am, and always be proud of.

  8. justin says:

  9. Joey bag"O" Donuts says:

Andrews right.. Nothing but loud obnoxious unemployed people drinking trying to pick up little underage girls who will be pregnant befor they turn 16. Thats the Peurto Rican Pride. And can you please tell me why No Puerto Rican Parents have the same last name and that their kids all have different last names.???
And as for the arrests at the St. Patricks day parade its the same thing loud obnoxious unemployed Peurto Rican Guys drinking trying to pick up little underage girls.

  10. marybell says:

tha’s ridiculous !!! that is one of the reasons why we are where we are !!! we, as puerto ricans need to support each other, help one another instead of putting our own race down!!!

  11. Anonymous says:

  13. Joey bag"O" Donuts says:

The NYPD reported 107 parade-related arrests, including two felonies. Among those arrested were a number of Latin Kings who tried to march, police sources said.

  14. MARIA MELENDEZ says:

LET ME TELL THIS RACIST AND IGNORANT PEOPLE WHO TALK DOWN ON PUERTO RICANS A PIECE OF MY MIND. RIGHT NOW IN THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM OF THE US GOVERNMENT SITS A PR WOMAN MRS. HONORABLE SOTOMAYOR AND THERE ARE MANY PUERTO RICANS THAT HAVE BEEN OF GREAT INFLUENCE TO THE US AND OTHER COUNTRIES. WE ARE A RACE OF STRONG MINDED, DETERMINED AND LOVING PEOPLE THAT WILL HAVE IN THE FUTURE GREAT POSITIONS HERE IN PR AND AROUND THE WORLD. WE ARE VERY PASSIONATE AND HOLD ON TO THE GREAT VALUES ,TRADITION AND COSTUMES OF OUR HERITAGE. I AM PUERTO RICAN AND I AM PROUD TO BE ONE. I WILL NEVER DOWNGRADE ANT RACE BECAUSE IN ALL RACES THERE ARE GREAT AND BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE. YOU NEED TO STOP HATING AND START APPRECIATING BECAUSE IN EVERY RACE AND EVERY CULTURE YOU WILL FIND THUGS. KILLERS, RACIST,ETC…. I HAVE LEARNED TO EMBRACE THE GOOD AND BAD. AND THERE IS MORE GOOD THAN BAD IN OUR PUERTO RICAN CULTURE. SO EDUCATE YOURSELVES BEFORE MAKING FOOLS OUT OF YOURSELF AND YOUR RACE.

  18. Ashm O PR says:

The PR parade is as stupid as all the Puerto Ricans who say that they love Puerto Rico BUT live in the states because they dont want to work and just want to live of welfare. YEP you might deny it but it is the simple truth. Also once you are there for a while (I’ve seen people whith as little as 2 months) you forget to speak spanish and start to speak like “Am, am, como e que se dice eso que bites you… am, am, mosquito. Y luego empiezan a decir “beismen” instead of “sotano” y otro me dijo “open de jood” en ves de abre el bonete. If you love PR so much come back and live the REEEAAALL PR way. Paguen sus taxes a PR not to other sate. What do you celebrate???? That PR sucks so much that around 5 milion Puertoricans cant live here????? I’m born and raised in PR and everytime we see the parade we look at eachother and change the chanel. It is so ridiculous and we just hope that the world does not judge the rest of us for this parade. SO dont be so proud and talking all this crab when you live in a state and not here at PR. PARCELEROS.

  19. Ashm O PR says:

    HERE IS MY PROOF:

Que viva Puerto Rico pero no entiendo como puede existir una parada NACIONAL de Puerto Rico cuando Puerto Rico nunca ha sido una NACION SEGUIMOS SIENDO PARTE A MEDIAS DE LOS ESTADOS UNIDOS Y CON UNA IDENTIDAD A CONVENIENCIA.

  26. Mo Mo Shannay says:

    Who the hell?

  27. We puertoricans in New York do not need to have a parade. Eventually other ethnics groups will know that we are citizens of the United States and that we defend this great country in war even if we reside in the island. I enjoyed best the different festivals around the city with a boricua flavor. As a resident of New York for 45 years I never assisted to a parade. ¡Ah! yes, I was a member of the 65th Infantry Regiment in Korea and retired from the New York Telephone Company. ¿What Parade?

  28. Joe says:

Look, although is true that most puerto ricans are white, there are many who are indeed black. In the island where the sun burns your skin to a dark shade anyway, nobody cares about the color of your skin. In New York during the 60′s Ricans mixed with blacks and created a beautiful mix of people that impresses many still today. Even in the island since the early 90′s there are thousands of Dominicans, and that gave our population an even darker percentage. So who cares if most of us are white? The fact is that the island melted way before the mainland did and if you look closely you’ll see that as the US melts and progresses, most of the population has begun to look like trigueños as do we. Ricans have never had an issues with race or skin color because we are a mix of Spanish, Italian, Indian and even some african… Who would dare to create a issue having such a background? That’s the reason why it’s a world known fact that Ricans are Beautiful. I believe that The Parade celebrates that reality.
